During the summer season, the Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) sets up a table every day within Yellowstone National Park (YNP) to engage with visitors and continue our outreach efforts.
Most people that we interact with have not heard of the issues we are fighting against (i.e., the current bison management plan). Tabling has taught me that each individual cares about the Buffalo for a different reason- they are important to the ecosystem, a cultural connection, or simply because they are cute, and every reason is valid!
While tabling within YNP, I have met people from all over the world who care about the Buffalo and the issues the BFC is fighting for– we have met supporters who live right by our base camp in West Yellowstone, Montana, to supporters from Germany and Australia! This opportunity to table with the BFC has helped me gain the knowledge and understanding of the importance of the intrinsic value the Buffalo hold, as well as their importance within the ecosystem and our society. Tabling with the BFC has allowed me to educate people from all over the world about the issues Buffalo are facing, and what they can do to help protect them!
